Hi-Di-Ho neighbors … how are things? I’m excited because I’m at the end of 6 weeks of non-weight bearing healing! In fact the doctor gave me the “all clear” to start putting weight on my entire foot under Physical Therapy's guidance. I’ll have to wean off using the boot over the next few weeks but I’ll be mobile finally! SO FREAKIN EXCITED!!!!!
So, for the last 6 weeks I have been watching art videos and studying up on classes on art and business to get all prepared for some real movement in the shop and with my business in general for this year. I have some new goals that really excite me.. I don’t want to reveal to much but we will see.. we will see. :-)
Today, I thought I’d like to show you the piece I did for the Schack Art Center auction. I was happy to contribute this year to a worthy cause.. they offer such great programs for youngsters and the community in art. I’m excited to be more involved.
So I did another flower painting for them.. I’m not sure how I feel about flowers being part of my style. I really love whimsical stuff but more often I find myself painting flowers.. Maybe I feel they are what more people will be drawn to and that is what pleases me. I do know that at this point, it's allowing me a lot of options to offer some note card sets in the future. Would that interest you? They would be blank inside. I’m thinking I might even be close enough to offer a 2016 calendar soon. Maybe just a few more flower paintings :- ).. I’ll put on my thinking cap and make some decisions about that. I have been working on a lot of whimsical faces behind the scenes since my foot surgery so I kind of think you will start seeing those soon.
Anyway, I thought I would share some step by step pics of this beautiful Buck-Eye butterfly. They really are brown, just look at the photograph I started from. I did this on watercolor paper with acrylics and adhered them to a birch wood board canvas that I had created texture on and painted. Both the butterfly and the flowers seem to pop off the canvas for a 3D effect. I had a lot of fun with this. Hope you enjoy. Have a great weekend! See you soon!
